Desserts in the Desert

The Lord said to Moses, “I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them, ‘At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.’ ” That evening quail came and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. When the dew was gone, thin flakes like frost on the ground appeared on the desert floor. When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread the Lord has given you to eat.

Desert or dessert:A dry, desolate place is a desert (one s) whereas a sweet treat is dessert (double s). Remember that once you have a dessert, you always crave for more and so dessert with two s-es. You can also remember the spellings of dessert as the ss in dessert stand for sweet stuff.

Interesting how there is a play on words when it comes to desert and dessert. Holy Spirit is so creative. I felt like He drew my attention to the fact that dessert and desert are so cosely linked in the Spirit and also in the natural looking like the same word. I felt like He was saying, even in the desert, I want to woo you and bring you desserts- which according to this definition above is “sweet stuff.”

Daddy God wants to bring you sweet stuff in your desert season. Get ready for the unexpected!! He loves to surprise us and remind is of His goodness even in a wilderness season! Get ready for His heavenly desserts. In the Israelites case in Exodus 16 it was actual mana coming down from heaven every morning for the people! Wow! If God provided for the complaining, grumbling Israelites in the dessert what makes us think He won’t provide for us in our weakness/wilderness? It is in these times of desert weaknesses that God almighty gets the glory!
